The recipes are all family recipes that have been in Bernardo’s family for many generations (150+ years of tradition are being cooked at The Villa Restaurant). They are being made daily from scratch and that flavor is what makes The Villa Restaurant so famous for its taste of traditional Italy. That old world Italian taste can be enjoyed in our sauces that are made to order from scratch and all of our soups that are made from scratch with our own stock. Our bread is also made from scratch daily with San Pellegrino water, and our tomatoes are imported from Italy.
As a family owned restaurant, The Villa Restaurant brings you over 40 years of exceptional food from our family recipes and Italian hospitality. Bernardo’s grandpa fought in WW1 and was offered U.S. citizenship provided he built railroads and worked in the mines. In 1969, Bernardo came to the United States and worked at a local restaurant and worked his way from a dishwasher to a bus boy and finally head waiter. On September 30, 1976, Bernardo decided to buy his own restaurant and opened The Villa Restaurant. This Santa Rosa institution has seen many generations of families, friends and local celebrities as regular guests for many years.
